South African Soccer Songbook

14 September 2011 616 views 2 Comments

Dear Mzansi Soccer Supporter,

One Two will be re-launching our South African Soccer Songbook project within the next few weeks. This project aims to collect and revive all those songs and chants which bring that extra special atmosphere to South African stadiums. You, the local football fan, are an integral part of this endeavour. We need you to submit lyrics to the songs, send mp3′s of the songs being sung in full voice or even by yourself!

Few would argue about the affinity every supporter felt the first time they heard the cries of “Thiba ka mona!” resonating from the Bishop Stand, or the joyous sounds of “Ka bo yellow” from the Mamelodi Sundowns faithful after a characteristic shoe-shine-and-piano display from their team, or DJ MK initiating a chorus of “Hiyo Le” before the start of an Orlando Pirates match, or the whole nation uniting in song to the words of “Shosholoza”.

This is a celebration of the beautiful sounds of the beautiful game.

Keep checking back to OneTwo.co.za for updates regarding the South African Soccer Songbook project.
