Patrice Motsepe’s spending spree continues as Sundowns captured the signature of South African national team striker, Eleazar Rodgers. Rodgers had a break through season during the 2011/2012, which saw him capture the eye of former Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane and his national team selectors.

The lanky striker finished 2nd on the top scorer list, with a 12 goal haul during the 2011/2012 PSL campaign for Santos. One of his memorable moments of last season was a 9 minute brace against Orlando Pirates.

Bidvest Wits were also keen on signing the 1.9m metre striker but The students were no match for the purchasing power of Sundowns’ billionaire owner, Patrice Motsepe. The deal is reported to be around the R7 million mark.
