Even though Orlando Pirates failed to rescue their CAF Champions League campaign, the Buccaneers did however manage to save a family of five in Angola after the family was involved in an accident.

Led by striker Benni McCarthy, the players immediately rushed to the rescue of the two girls and their mother, who were lying on the side of the road after managing to get out of the vehicle.

The Bucs medical team of Dr Ezekiel Matebula and Physiotherapist John Williams, assisted by the Portuguese speaking Benni McCarthy, managed to attend to the injured members of the family until the authorities arrived. Physical trainer Japhet Borges and Pastor Coach Julio Leal counselled the other members of the family.
